Cheap accommodation for EST-delegates in Germersheim

If you are an EST-delegate and looking for a place to stay during the conference, we are working on providing accommodation for you at either the local student dormitories or in shared flats. Flats will either be shared or prepared for you by the landlords; however, some may ask for rent (maximum of 15 € per night). You will have to bring your own towels, bed linens and sleeping bag. Please fill out the form below to send us a request. We will answer all requests by the end of May. Please note that we are not yet able to guarantee that all requests will be met. We, therefore, suggest that you go ahead and arrange a hotel accommodation just in case and then wait for our reply after filling out the request form. Hotel bookings can usually be canceled at no charge.

Speyer

Nearby and connected via S-Bahn train transit, the town of Speyer is the best alternative for conference accommodation. The picturesque town founded by the Romans is one of the oldest German cities. With its more than 1000-year-old World Heritage Site cathedral which houses the graves of several German kings and Holy Roman emperors and several other points of interest it is only a 15 minute train ride away from the conference town of Germersheim. Information on hotels is available at:

http://www.speyer.de/sv_speyer/de/Tourismus/Urlaubsplanung/Hotelzimmer/

Kurpfalz Jugenherberge A 176-room youth hostel with single rooms, double rooms and four-bed rooms. Each room has its own bathroom. For more information, see:

http://www.diejugendherbergen.de/die-jugenherbergen-auf-einen-blick/speyer/portrait (only in German)

Phone: +49 (0) 6232 61597 (English spoken)

E-mail: speyer@diejugendherbergen.de

Due to the fact that Speyer is a tourist destination, it is almost impossible to reserve a block of rooms. The Hotel Speyerer Hof hotel (see: www.hotel-speyerer-hof.de), which is right next to the cathedral, does offer a special conference rate. Just state in your booking that you are attending the EST conference.

Bus transfer to Speyer after the conference dinner is included in the dinner fee.

Mannheim

Due to the large number of participants, we also recommend looking for hotels in Mannheim.

Approximately 40 minutes away from Germersheim, the city of Mannheim offers the widest range of accommodations. Mannheim, with its streets and avenues laid out in a grid pattern, leading to its nickname "die Quadratestadt" ("city of the squares"), offers more than 40 hotels in every category and is on the high-speed railway line that links directly to Frankfurt airport. For more information, see: http://www.tourist-mannheim.de/de/Mannheim-buchen/Uebernachtungen/Hotels. Alternatively, booking portals like www.hrs.de can be used for reservation.

Bus transfer to Mannheim after the conference dinner is planned. Just let us know at the beginning of the conference if transfer is needed.

Furthermore, hotels in the following cities are worth considering: Karlsruhe, Ludwigshafen, Landau, Heidelberg.

We also offer accommodation for students and PhD students. For more information, please contact Mr Tomasz Rozmyslowicz:
